Happy Belated Birthday, CY
Mists over the
Water, thick with fish
In silver scales.
And in the night they
Peel off their skin
So that it floats - glinting, glimmering
Like ersatz gems.
But the doppelgangers lurk behind
Shadows and wait
For their argentate scales -
Unbeknownst to them
As they dance in lollops
In a drunken haze.
