Canker in the Rose's Heart

He comes like a phantom
Cloaked in black velvet
I hear the honey in his voice
And succumb to the beauty of his face.

A tingle spreads from the crevices of my bones
This dark, dangerous stranger
Who feeds on my passion
Like a truculent incubus.

He comes in the night
And wanders in my dreams
An angel with black wings
The canker in the heart of a rose.
