Midnight Masquerade

It is the middle of the night
Dark creatures have come out to play
Things that are blinded by the sun
Are dancing in the shadow of the moon.

Lavish dresses with golden embroidery
Swirl across the dewy ground
Who knows what demon lurks
Beneath the beautiful masks.

Music and laughter fill the night
I shiver at the macabre sounds
But the night is still horrendously young
And the midnight masquerade has just begun.

P.S. I just love Venetian masks. They're another one of Italy's finest treasure. Perhaps I should dedicate a post solely for them since I have so many pictures.
